Screensavers and GIFS from Paradise (also known as the St. Regis Bora Bora)

Ia Ora na (that means “hello” in Tahitian) from Bora Bora. I’m currently spending a few days at the amazing St. Regis Bora Bora Resort in overwater bungalow with this off the hook view.

The resort was the filming location for the Vince Vaughn comedy Couples Retreat, which now plays in a continuous loop on the resort’s closed circuit television in a few different languages. My favorite line of dialogue from the movie comes from the scene where they arrive at the resort, and Vince Vaughn’s character says “Holy sh*t, it’s like a screensaver!”

Yes, many a screensaver has been born in Bora Bora– and for good reason. It’s straight up paradise.  I’ve decided to include a few images in this post that work well as screensavers, wallpapers, and twitter backgrounds. I hope you enjoy them virtually as much as I am in real life.

Happy Hour at The Lagoon Restaurant by Jean-Georges Vongerichten. Left: a Cucumber martini Right: Passion fruit sangria.

Mount Otemanu provides a stunning backdrop for the St. Regis Resort, particularly at sunset.

No direct flight to get you to French Polynesia? Perhaps you could lease a Gulfstream G550, like this one at the Bora Bora airport. Interesting factoid: this jet will only set you back $50 million, so leasing is clearly a better value.

The colors are straight out of a Paul Gauguin painting, the natural textures stunning.

Self-portrait on the dock of my overwater bungalow. The sandals are Dolce Vita, the dress Halston Heritage from Bleu Clothing.

Left: the canopy of palm trees works really well as my twitter background. Right: If you prefer something simpler, try out these fish in the lagoon.

Here’s a view of the overwater bungalow next door. I just love all the colors and textures.

Since GIF was just named the “Word of the Year” by Oxford Dictionaries I’ve also included a few fun tropical GIFS including champagne and sharks.

Much thanks to Michael Schoonewagen, the GM of this amazing property, for sponsoring my stay. You are an excellent host.
